Our long-time followers might remember our first event with Here; HERE Hackathon Istanbul. As the #1 location platform in the world (no exaggeration) where rich location data, intelligent products, and powerful tools come together to drive your business forward, Here Technologies is a company we love to work with. Their approach promoting collaboration and sharing via their platform, with the use of their countless SDKs and APIs support innovation for the future of location-based services.
We had our second event for Here called “Here Technologies Location Solutions Day” on 27th June at Kolektif House Levent, with more than 100 attendees. At our event, professionals from Here and various professions such as developers, professionals from the automotive industry and solution providers attended our event.
Our event started with opening speeches by Ece Ertürk Hışım of Here Technologies, and Kaan Akın of Hackquarters.
After opening remarks, Knuth Sexauer from Here was on stage for his “The New Reality” presentation. He talked about the effect of GDPR in location services and the paradigm shift in location-based services with examples such as autonomous driving trucks, precision agriculture where machines harvest farms by themselves. Also, he explained how Here Open Location Platform 2.0 works, and what benefits it brings for developers.
Our keynote speaker was Serdar Gürbüz, Digital Business Development and Innovation Director of Yıldız Holding and Board Member of Turkish Technology Team (T3). He explained why location solutions are important for the future and especially how indoor positioning may change the way we interact with buildings in general. Also, he mentioned the upcoming event, Take Off İstanbul International Startup Summit, the biggest entrepreneurship event of the region, which will take place in Atatürk Airport between 16th-19th September.
We had a little coffe break before Ece Ertürk Hışım was on stage explaining Here Location Services and opportunities in detail. Then Ahmed Nasr from Here was on stage explaining OLP (Open Location Platform) in detail.
With our great guests, we had 2 awesome panels on “Autonomous Driving” and “The Future of Smart Location Services”. Our guests for Autonomous Driving Panel were Caner Güney from İstanbul Technical Üniversity, Samet Kütük from Leo Engineering and Harry Rifiotis from Here Technologies. For our The Future of Smart Location Services Panel, our guests were Mustafa Eren from Verisun, Ali Halebi from Volt Lines and Zeynep Şener from Visa. Both panels were moderated by Semra Memis of Here.
Last part of our full day program was Q&A session and followed by networking time accompanied by drinks and snacks.
Even if a full-day event is always tiring, it becomes fun with great people and a great flow (and maybe with great food and drinks). As Hackquarters, we would like to thank all of over 100 attendees, Here Technologies Team and of course, Hackquarters Team for this great event (it sounds weird to self-thank, we know).
